Most players assume their ticket count is simply based on how many questions they get right. That's partially true — but it's only one variable in a multi-factor formula. Understanding the complete scoring system is the first step toward dramatically improving your ticket earnings.
The QuizStakes ticket formula accounts for four main factors: accuracy, speed, streak multiplier, and consistency bonus. Let's break each one down.
Factor 1: Base Score (Accuracy)
Your base score is determined by how many of the 10 questions you answer correctly. Getting all 10 right earns the maximum base score; each missed question reduces it proportionally. There's no partial credit for questions you skip or answer after timeout.
Optimization tip: Never guess randomly on a question you're completely unsure about. A wrong answer doesn't just fail to earn points — in some scoring windows it slightly penalizes your multiplier calculation. If you're genuinely uncertain, take an extra two seconds to think rather than clicking impulsively.
Factor 2: Speed Multiplier
On top of your base score, QuizStakes applies a speed multiplier based on how quickly you complete the full quiz. The multiplier tiers work roughly like this:
- Complete all 10 questions in under 90 seconds: 2.0× multiplier
- 90–120 seconds: 1.75× multiplier
- 120–150 seconds: 1.5× multiplier
- 150–180 seconds: 1.25× multiplier
- Over 180 seconds: 1.0× (no speed bonus)
The multiplier applies to your base score, so a perfect accuracy score with a 2.0× multiplier earns twice the tickets as a perfect score with no speed bonus.
Optimization tip: Don't sacrifice accuracy for speed. A perfect score at 1.75× beats a 9/10 score at 2.0× in most ticket calculations. The sweet spot is 100% accuracy in the 90–120 second window. Practice until that's achievable.
Factor 3: Daily Streak Multiplier
This is the most underappreciated factor in the ticket formula. Your streak multiplier stacks on top of everything else:
- Day 1 (no streak): baseline
- 3-day streak: +5% bonus
- 7-day streak: +10% bonus
- 14-day streak: +20% bonus
- 30-day streak: +35% bonus
A 30-day streak player earning 50 base tickets is actually earning 67.5 tickets per session. Over a month that's 337 extra tickets compared to a player who skips weekends.
Optimization tip: Treat your streak like a game within the game. If you know you'll be traveling or unusually busy, play earlier in the day rather than skipping. The 30-day tier is where the compounding really kicks in and most players never reach it because they break their streak on a casual Saturday.
Factor 4: Category Accuracy Bonus
QuizStakes tracks your historical accuracy by category. Players who demonstrate expertise in specific categories (defined as ≥ 80% historical accuracy in that category) earn a small "expertise bonus" of 5–10% on questions from those categories.
This means your past performance is continuously working for you. The more you play, the more expertise bonuses you unlock, and the more your per-question ticket value increases.
Optimization tip: Play consistently across categories rather than hoping to avoid your weak spots. Building expertise bonuses in five or six categories creates a baseline ticket boost on nearly every quiz.

Same quiz, same 10 questions, dramatically different ticket output. Player B is 3× more effective — not because they're luckier, but because they understand the system.
Building Your Knowledge Base
The most sustainable way to improve your quiz performance is to systematically study your weak categories. After each quiz, note which questions you got wrong. Spend 5 minutes per day on a category flashcard app (Anki, Quizlet) focused on trivia topics. Within 30 days of this habit, most players see their accuracy rate climb from ~75% to ~90%+, which has a significant compounding effect on their ticket earnings.
